Rummaging through the “News” app on my iPad the other day, a triptych of images stood out among the others that warranted a further look… The original article appeared in The Huffington Post.
The photographer, Edward Honaker, talks about his feelings of anxiety and depression. Something that is really difficult to convey to others – especially those who are fortunate not to have experienced these feelings themselves. He found that voice though photography and has produced some very poignant and thought provoking images. He says that he hopes the images will raise awareness and spark discussion about these issues, and judging by the response he’s had online, I think he has achieved that.
Aside from any resonances these images might have, I think this is a great example of how images can have real power, emotion, meaning, and purpose.
