On Tuesday night, whilst you were all undergoing the Judge’s scrutiny at our
Club Night, I went along to Henley Photographic Club as our representative
for the first round of the Chiltern Association of Camera Clubs’ inter-club
Rose Bowl Competition. In addition to MCC and Henley, Leighton Buzzard and
Park Street were also involved in the competition.
Each club submits 15 images and the Judge, Micki Aston, marks each PDI in random order. We got
off to a great start when one of Anne Walker’s was awarded a 19 which was
soon followed by a 20 for one of Margaret Warren’s. Our run continued with
more high scores for Nick Taylor, Ray Reeder, Tony Ketley and Paul Vine.
However, Park Street were running ahead of us as the evening progressed and
I thought we might be drifting away from contention. With 40 images already
assessed by Micki we were still trailing in second place until Park Street
started to get a run of low scores, whereas the turning point came when Ray
got a 20. Thereafter, high scores flowed from Damon Guy, Sarah Duffy,
Shirley Arnold, Rita Ashby, Ray and Paul. The result was a win for MCC with
269 points (average 17.9), then a tie for second place with Leighton Buzzard
and Henley on 264 points each (17.6 average) and Park Street with 261 points
(17.4 average). Well done to all those with selected images.
The next round is at our place on 4th January 2011 against Amersham, British Airways
Club and St Albans.
