Sue Ryder – Big Art Competition 2015

Message from Louise Brookes of Sue Ryder Care [email protected]

Dear Marlow Camera Club,

I met one of your lovely members Shirley at the Marlow Regatta just
gone – and she mentioned that you may be interested in our Big Art
Competition that’s happening a the Hospice on the 22nd August/4th

I thought I would let you know a little bit about it and see whether
you or any of your members might be interested in participating!

You can find out more about the competition and competition
registration here:

The competition is as follows:
Saturday 22nd August: inspiration and planning
Between 10am and 4pm you’re invited to join us for a day in the
hospice grounds. This is your time to photograph and gain inspiration
for your artwork. You then have 2 weeks to complete and submit your
works before the exhibition and results.

Friday 4th September: exhibition and results
Bring your work back to be judged by our panel. All finished art work
must be submitted by the noon deadline. Judging will take place
between 12 and 2pm. Afternoon tea will be served from 4pm and the
winners will be announced!

We are putting together a fantastic prize package for the winners in
each category, as well as the overall ‘patients choice’ award.

Winners’ work will be professionally framed and displayed at one of
the UK’s leading independent Art Galleries – The Lemongrove, Henley
on Thames. All participants, winners and their families will be
invited to a champagne reception at The Lemongrove where their works
will be unveiled. They will remain on display in The Lemongrove
gallery for a week.

If you’ve not been to the hospice before – it’s an incredible
location, and as a budding artist myself I’ve often looked across the
estate and thought it would be the most incredible location to create
work in. The hospice itself used to be the Fleming family home – and
Ian Fleming used to spend many a summer here when he was younger! All
we ask is that the artwork be “inspired” by the hospice – whether
that’s literally, or emotionally!

We will be announcing the Judges in the next few weeks on our facebook
page here:

However I can confirm we have the lovely Fiona Hunter from BLiNK, A
representative from the Lemongrove Gallery, Henley, and an
International Fine Artist joining us as part of the Judging panel.

I would really appreciate any support, and hope you and your students
might like to participate! Currently it’s £15 entry, however we are
offering a group discount (5 people or more) at £10 a head. We also
have concessions for Over 60’s and under 16’s.

If you would like me to send through any flyers please let me know!

Thanks so much for your time,

Best wishes, and happy photographing!
